A little help using Relay Chat.Usage of Relay
Chat may seem a little complicated, but it's actually quite
simplistic in design. To chat with everyone in the current room in
which you reside, you simply type whatever it is that you want to
say and hit enter. When you hit enter, the screen is refreshed and
all messages (old and new) are displayed.
Login Problems.
Zone Alarm Firewall
If you use Zone alarm
and are having problems logging onto RelayChat, this is likely down
the privacy settings. If the privacy setting are enabled, Zone
alarm inserts its own html code into the submit message page.
The chat script detects this tampering and will refuse to let
you on and you get the "There was an error processing the form
from the URL where you logged on from " message. You need to
turn off the privacy settings to get things to work properly.
For Norton Anti Virus
1. Go to norton
firewall and click on 'advanced options' 2. Click on 'add site',
then type in "www.relaychat.com and www.relaychat.ca". This
will then appear in the list of websites. 3. Click on "www.relaychat.com"
and tick the 'use these rules' box. Do the same for www.relaychat.ca
and 208.56.99.253
4. Change 'browsing privacy - referer' to "permit"
from "block"
5. If you still can not log in, disable Norton Internet Security
For Norton Internet Security:
1. Open Norton Internet Security.
2. Click Options.
3. Click Internet Security (or Personal Firewall).
4. Click Advanced Options.
5. Click the Web tab.
6. Click Add Site. A new site/domain box appears.
7. Enter the url of the site that you want to receive the referrer
information (www.relaychat.com and www.relaychat.ca
and 208.56.99.253) and click OK. That site name appears in the left
frame of the Advanced Options window.
8. Click the name of the new site.
9. Click the Privacy tab.
10. Check the "Use these rules for..." box.
11. Change the Referrer from "Block" to "Allow."
12. Click Apply, and then click OK.
13. Click OK to close the Options window.
Private Messages.Private Messages will appear below the
public chatting screen under a line border. These messages have
numbers in parenthesis () at the end of them. The number represents
the number of seconds that the particular message has resided in
your private message buffer. If you send a private message to
someone, only that person can see it, just as only you can see
private messages that are sent to you (these messages are held in
memory, not in files, they are very secure).
Changing Rooms.Changing rooms is done by clicking on
the arrow next to the room name you are in, and selecting a
different room from the pull-down list.
Commands.Commands on RelayChat are here to help us all,
they are used to perform every function RelayChat has to offer. Much
like mIRC, RelayChat's commands are all preceded by a forward slash
( / ) with the command name following directly after the forward
slash, for an example '/quit'. The list of commands is here.
IconsIcons are images within your text posts. As you
have seen on AOL and AOL IM you can put a smilie face in your
messages to people, this function is also available on RelayChat. It
is done by typing the triggers ANYWHERE within your message. The
list of triggers is here.
